The LM2937IMP-5.0 is a fixed output low dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator in 4 pin SOT-223 package. The use of PNP power transistor provides low dropout voltage characteristics. Minimum input to output voltage differential required for output to remain in regulation is typically 0.5V (1V ensured maximum over full operating temperature range) with a load current of 500mA. Special circuitry has been incorporated to minimize quiescent current to 10mA with full 500mA load current when input to output voltage differential is greater than 3V. The LM2937 requires an output bypass capacitor for stability. As with most low dropout regulators the ESR of this capacitor remains a critical design parameter. It includes special compensation circuitry that relaxes ESR requirements.
