The DRV8816EVM is an evaluation module for evaluating the DRV8816 dual half H bridge motor driver. The dual half bridge driver DRV8816 can drive one brushed DC motor or one winding of a stepper motor, as well as other devices like solenoids with individual half bridge control. The device has a current sense output and configurable over current limit and sleep mode is enabled via a sleep pin. The DRV8816 is fully protected with a fault indication pin. It includes an MSP430 microcontroller that is pre-programmed to take input from two dedicated analogue potentiometers, for PWM speed control of 2 brushed DC motors. Two enable jumpers provide the ability to HIZ the motor outputs. Power can be provided externally up to 38volts through the power header. To expand beyond the included firmware capability, the MSP430 can be reprogrammed via an external MSP430 USB stick development tool. The board is capable of driving a single DC motor bidirectional or two DC motors unidirectional.
