The MAX751CPA+ is a CMOS step-up current mode PWM DC to DC converter in 8 pin DIP package. The device has 5V output voltage and 1.2V minimum input start-up voltage at ILOAD = 0mA. It provides output current of 150mA from 2.7V supply. Battery saving feature includes 86% typical full load efficiency, 2mA operating quiescent supply current and 35μA shutdown supply current. The shutdown mode can be directly controlled by a microprocessor via logic compatible active-low SHDN pin. The MAX751 is tested in-circuit, so output power specifications are provided over line, load and temperature ranges. The typical operating circuit uses tiny surface mounted components including miniature 22μH inductor and fits in to less than 0.5in2. The device uses current mode pulse width modulation (PWM) control to provide precise output regulation and low subhormonic noise. The MAX751 is typically used in local 5V supply in 3V only systems, RF transmitter supplies & battery powered instruments.
