The MAX6692MUA+ is a precision SMBus compatible remote/local temperature sensor with overtemperature alarms in 8 pin μMAX package. This precise, two channel digital temperature sensor accurately measures the temperature of its own die and remote PN junction. It reports the temperature in digital form using 2-wire serial interface. The 2-wire serial interface accepts standard SMBus write byte, read byte, send byte and receive byte commands to read temperature data and to program alarm thresholds. The MAX6692 provides active-low ALERT and active-low OVERT system alarms. The active-low ALERT asserts when any of four temperature conditions are violated including local overtemperature, remote overtemperature, local undertemperature or remote undertemperature. The active-low OVERT asserts when temperature rises above the value in either of the two active-low OVERT limit registers. The active-low OVERT output can be used to activate cooling fan or to trigger a system shutdown.
