The MAX6665ASA70+ is a fan controller/driver with factory programmed temperature threshold of 70°C in 8 pin NSOIC package. It is a fully integrated thermal switch with an internal power transistor for driving a cooling fan rated up to 24V and 250mA. The active-low FANOUT pin becomes active and power the fan when temperature of MAX6665 rises above a factory programmed threshold. Accuracy of fan activation trip point is ±1°C (typical) and ±3°C (maximum). The trip point hysteresis is pin selectable to 1°C, 4°C, or 8°C. Two open-drain logic outputs indicate overtemperature conditions. The active-low WARN is activated when temperature is 15°C above fan activation threshold and complementary OT is activated when temperature is 30°C above threshold. These features can be used to safely power down systems that are overheated. The MAX6665 is typically used in PC power supplies, laboratory instruments and card racks.
