The MAX5821MEUA+ is a dual, low power, 10bit serial voltage output digital to analogue converter (DAC) in 8 pin μMAX package. It has an I2C compatible 2-wire interface that operates at clock rates up to 400KHz. This device operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and consumes ultra low supply current of 115μA at VDD = 3.6V. A power down mode decreases current consumption to less than 1μA. The MAX5821 has three software selectable power down output impedances (100Kohm, 1Kohm and high impedance). It also includes internal precision rail to rail output buffers and power-on reset (POR) circuit that powers up the DAC in 100Kohm power down mode. All logic inputs are CMOS logic compatible and buffered with schmitt triggers that allows direct interfacing to optocoupled and transformer isolated interfaces. It is used in digital gain and offset adjustments, programmable voltage and current sources, programmable attenuation, VCO, low cost instrumentation and battery operated instrumentation.
