The MAX5742AUB+ is a 12bit, low power, quad, buffered voltage output digital to analogue converter (DAC) with serial interface in 10 pin μMAX package. The wide supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, supply current of 229μA (VDD = 3.6V) and 271μA (VDD = 5.5V) accommodates low power and low voltage applications. In power-down mode reference input is high impedance which further reduces system's total power consumption. The 20MHz, 3-wire SPI, QSPI, MICROWIRE and DSP compatible serial interface saves board space and reduces the complexity of opto and transformer isolated applications. The MAX5742 on-chip power-on reset circuit resets the DAC outputs to zero and loads the output with 100Kohm resistor to ground. This provides additional safety for applications that drive valves or other transducers that need to be off on power-up. It is used in automatic tuning gain and offset adjustment, power amplifier control, battery powered instruments and VCO control.
