The MAX31850KATB+ is a cold-junction compensated, 1-wire thermocouple to digital converter in 10 pin TDFN package. This sophisticated thermocouple to digital converter includes a built-in 14bit analogue to digital converter (ADC), cold-junction compensation sensing and correction, a digital controller, a 1-wire data interface and associated control logic. The 1-wire bus by definition requires only one data line and ground connection for communication with a central microcontroller. The data line requires a weak pull-up resistor since device is linked to the bus through a three-state or open-drain port. Four location address inputs simplify mapping of device to specific locations. This device has a unique 64bit serial code which allows multiple units to function on the same 1-wire bus. Hence it is simple to use one microcontroller (the master device) to monitor temperature from many thermocouples distributed over a large area.
