The MAX31820PARMCR+ is a 1-wire, parasite power ambient temperature sensor in 3 pin TO-92 package. It provides 9bit to 12bit celsius temperature measurements with ±0.5°C accuracy over 10°C to 45°C temperature range. The device communicates over 1-wire bus that and requires only one data line (and ground) for communication with a central microprocessor. In addition, the device derives power directly from data line (parasite power) which eliminates need for an external power supply. The form factor of TO-92 package allows device to be placed above board and thus measures ambient temperature of a system as opposed to board temperature that surface mount package would measure. Each MAX31820PAR has a unique 64bit serial code which allows multiple MAX31820PAR devices to function on same 1-wire bus. It is used in temperature monitoring systems inside buildings, equipment or machinery, thermostatic controls, thermometers and any thermally sensitive system.
