The MAX176BCWE+ is a serial output, 12bit analogue to digital converter (ADC) with track/hold and reference in 16 pin WSOIC package. It achieves 250Ksps sampling rate by combining a fast track/hold (0.4μs maximum acquisition time), 3.5μs ADC and buried zener voltage reference. The device also saves space with serial interface and DIP package. Supply and reference decoupling capacitors are the only external components needed. The CLOCK input can be driven from an external divided down microprocessor clock or from serial clock output of a microcontroller. The MAX176 works with +5V and -12V to -15V supply voltages (148mW typical power dissipation). The 3-wire serial interface of MAX176 works with general purpose serial to parallel converters such as 74HC495 as well as with digital signal processor and microcontrollers. Its 3-wire interface is fully compatible with SPI, QSPI and MICROWIRE interface standards. It is used in telecommunications and sonar/radar signal processing.
