The MAX1038AEEE+ is a low power, 12-channel, serial 8bit SAR analogue to digital converter (ADC) in 16 pin QSOP package. It includes internal track/hold (T/H), voltage reference, clock and high speed I2C compatible serial interface (400KHz fast mode and 1.7MHz high speed mode). This ADC uses successive approximation conversion techniques and input T/H circuitry to capture and convert an analogue signal to serial 8bit digital output. The MAX1038 operates from single supply and require only 350μA at maximum sampling rate of 188Ksps. Auto-Shutdown powers down the device between conversions reducing supply current to less than 1μA at low throughput rates. The full scale analogue input range is determined by internal reference or by an externally applied reference voltage ranging from 1V to VDD. The MAX1038 has 4.096V internal reference and it is used in battery powered test equipments, solar powered remote systems, received signal strength indicators and system supervision applications.
