The DC1696A demonstration board features LTM8026 regulator. The LTM8026 is a 36VIN, 5A constant voltage, constant current (CVCC) step down μModule regulator. Included in the IC package are the switching controller, power switches, inductor and support components. The demo circuit is designed for a 3.3V output from an input voltage range of 6V to 36V. The output can source 5A. The output current can be set by a control voltage, a single resistor or a thermistor. The current limit enables designers to set the maximum amount of power drawn from the supply, preventing input voltage droop caused by overcurrent conditions. When multiple LTM8026 are configured with the outputs tied together, each converter can be programmed with a unique maximum current limit to meet its specific input supply limitations for greater output power, a technique known as asymmetric power sharing. The circuit can be operated in either constant voltage mode or constant current mode.
