The Kemet C series flexible termination system (FT-CAP) commercial grade multilayer ceramic chip capacitors are X7R dielectric material which exhibits no change in capacitance with respect to time and voltage. MLCCs are monolithic device consists of laminated layers of specially formulated, ceramic dielectric materials interspersed with a metal electrode system. The layered formation is then fired at high temperature to produce a sintered and volumetrically efficient capacitance device. These FT-CAP multilayer ceramic capacitors in X7R dielectric incorporates a unique, flexible termination system integrated with standard termination. This technology was developed to address primary failure mode of MLCCs such as flex cracks which results excessive tensile and shear stresses produced during board flexure and thermal cycling. FT-CAP technology inhibits the transfer of board stress to rigid ceramic body therefore mitigating flex cracks which can result in low IR or short circuit failures.
