The ATMEGA162-16AU is a 8-bit high-performance low-power AVR RISC-based Microcontroller combines 16kB of programmable flash memory, 1kB SRAM, 512B EEPROM and a JTAG interface for on-chip debugging. The device supports throughput of 16 MIPS at 16MHz and operates between 2.7 to 5.5V. By executing instructions in a single clock cycle, the device achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz, balancing power consumption and processing speed. The AVR core combines a rich instruction set with 32 general purpose working registers. All the 32 registers are directly connected to the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), allowing two independent registers to be accessed in one single instruction executed in one clock cycle. The resulting architecture is more code efficient while achieving throughputs up to ten times faster than conventional CISC microcontrollers.
